Do you have to have any special talents to serve God?

Does God use you only if you are born with special talents?

Do you think God cannot use you because you lack any talents?

Yeah, I know. A bunch of boring names with how long they lived. But look again. Here is all the information you find on a lot of important people. God doesn't put any useless info into His word.

Look again. Recognize anyone?

Here's Seth. Not really impressive? Maybe not to you. But he sure is to God. He's the ancestor of Noah. Noah is the ancestor of King David. King David is the ancestor of Christ.

Then there's Enoch. Lived 365 years. Walked faithfully with God, and he was no more because God took him.

And Methuselah. Oldest man who ever lived.

Do we see where any of these conquered kingdoms? Were they said to be the richest, or smartest, or strongest who ever lived?

Nothing special. Just faith in God.

And God was able to use them to Father the savior of the world.

I know there are times in life when we feel unimportant. Most of the time it's when we have tried to do things our way and asked God to bless us. I know, I'm talking to myself too. Let's try seeking what God would have us be. Seeing where He takes us. Our lives, our talents. No matter how small they seem to us, can become great when placed in the hands of a mighty God.

If you are like me you have often wondered why Moses lists who was the father of who. The first couple of verses in the next chapter of Genesis gives us some insight.

"The sons of God saw that the daughters of men were beautiful. So they married any of them they chose."

Some see "the sons of God" as fallen angels. Others see them as sons of Seth that married with the daughters of Cain.

Whatever you choose to believe, I think God is listing ancestors here so that Satan cannot have a claim to the lineage of Jesus.
